Middle School

Westminster Christian Academy’s Middle School provides a positive and exciting school climate for students in grades seven and eight. Students enjoy a sense of community, cooperation, and teamwork that is distinctive to middle level education. A focused effort to help students develop spiritual maturity, achieve personal excellence, and learn effective study skills is built within this dynamic program.
The traditional academic disciplines anchor the WCA middle school experience. Yet many other opportunities exist for students to grow and learn beyond these core classes. The rich experiences in the fine arts and the acquisition of essential practical arts skills bring beauty and resourcefulness into our students’ lives. The Middle School offers exploratory classes to broaden our students’ horizons. These hands-on, interactive classes are practical extensions of our core curriculum, or they introduce students to the offerings made available to them in the Upper School.
The athletic/physical education program is equally important to the middle school experience. It is our belief that this age group must engage in formalized physical activity. The students’ physical growth and developmental needs require careful, daily attention. To achieve this end, each student is required to participate in either a physical education class or a team sport all year long. Physical education classes and all team sports are conducted during an extended 80-minute period within the school day.rnrnGrade level teaching teams and other resource personnel meet daily for interdisciplinary planning, review of students’ progress and needs, and professional development. Students find the sensitive heart and strong character of WCA are established and nurtured by the faculty and staff.
Seventh and eighth grade students will find that self-discipline and responsibility will be required of them as they travel from class to class, maintain a locker, and develop relationships with teachers and peers. Planning and preparing for tests, quizzes, projects, and daily homework will be a regular part of the routine. Their talents, energy, and character will be stretched as they are challenged to begin developing into the Christian young men and women that God has planned for them to become.
